Learn And Master The Piano With Ease

By John Windil

When it comes to your idea about playing piano, the chances are that you assume it to be one of the most difficult things in life. But then, how do all those pianists out there perform with such elegance and glamour? Lets face it. What we hold in our heart is a pseudo-fear. Piano playing is not as horrible as it is made to be seen. In fact, it is even easier than playing a guitar or any other string instrument due to the simple fact that, the piano accommodates enough space for your fingers to do wonders.

The rule of the thumb when it comes to playing piano is to practice. That is why you see so many kids playing the piano well than many adults do. If your ears grab the sounds that are produced by a piano, and if your fingers get enough practice to walk confidently through the keyboard, then you will have no trouble with playing piano.

The first thing to know before playing piano would be to learn how to read the music staff. A music staff consists of those famous five lines and four spaces between which the notes are written and placed on a sheet.

Additionally, you will learn the two different clefs that help you determine on which hand you should be playing. Treble clef will show the notes that pertain to the right hand while the bass cleft will point out to notes that should be played by the left hand. Other additional instructions too will be noted on a music manuscript such as pedaling and variation of tone. However, these are advanced techniques that you should not worry about, just as yet.

Learning to read notations, also known as sight reading is a crucial skill you need to develop if you are thinking of pursuing piano music. You may have seen people who could play perfectly without knowing anything about notations. That is an inborn skill. Playing by the ear is a fabulous gift however; learning to sight read is a greater skill to develop as it will surely assist your music abilities on the long run.

On your first attempt to learn piano, you will need to learn how to locate the middle C as it is the most important note of all on a music script. Once you know the middle C it is easy for you to recognize rest of the keys.

You may wonder why many tutorials try teaching the white keys first. The reason is that the black keys denote sharps and flats, which is one step further in your learning process. However, the concept of sharps and flats is not difficult to understand but first, you will need to be thorough with the white keys.

First of all, you need to read up about piano playing. Get to know as much information as possible so you know what to expect in time to come. Second get yourself a good tutor; and it does not matter if your tutor is human or a computer. Happy playing. - 30455
